Hot Hot Heat
May 8
I got this band a few weeks ago, but just listened to ‘em this week. I decided as soon I heard them that I wanted to post them here. They’re catchy, they’re dancey, and they have some nice word plays in their lyrics (you know what a sucker I am for puns). So, off their album Elevator, here’s Hot Hot Heat’s song You Owe Me An IOU
The White Stripes

Yeah, they were popular there for awhile. But they’re just so damn cool!. I mean, Jack White and his sister Meg are both great musicians and they have some really fun songs. And Jack produced and played on Loretta Lynn’s newest album, which helped her do a bit of a comeback. That’s what great musicians do.
So, enjoy Hotel Yorba off of The White Stripes’ second album White Blood Cells.
Copeland

This is Kenneth’s friend, Ray, filling in for him while he moves to Arkansas. This song comes from their latest album, In Motion which actually gets released just this month. I heard the song Pin Your Wings while trying to actually pick a song I thought decent enough to post here. I have to admit, though, that I had a little help. My wife Amy and I were both listening to a bunch of different songs when we both said “Yeah, that’s a good one.” I checked out their website and read that they were from Atlanta, GA. I suppose this is fitting that I chose them…
While I’m at it, why not throw out one more track from a different band? I don’t really know much about this band, but the song’s not bad. Here’s suspension from Mae. I hope you enjoy this week’s song selections.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Seems like I post a lot from this band. Well, they’re a great band, that’s all. Geez, get off my back about it!
OK, this is from their newest release, a double album with the names Abattoir Blues and The Lyre of Orpheus. This is the title track from the second CD, The Lyre of Orpheus
Tom Waits

Double Feature
Yes, it’s another double feature. Tom Waits has been around forever it seems. He’s been releasing music and albums since the mid-70s. His early stuff is nice and friendly (like the first song listed below) and his more recent stuff is very whiskey bar-ish. I love his voice and the fact that he can play every instrument known to man! So, before next Sunday, get Please Call Me, Baby and Bad Liver and a Broken Heart
The 5.6.7.8’s
August 15
In honor of Elaine’s birthday, I’m putting up a band she’s pretty fond of. They’re an awesome sock-hop/punk trio from Japan.
Here’s Three Cool Chicks from The 5.6.7.8’s. Enjoy!
