NaNoWriMo Begins
November 2
Yesterday (the first) was our one-year anniversary, so I took the day off from NaNoWriMo (in other words, procrastinated another day), and that means I only started today.
We had a good anniversary. Elaine and I went to Tulsa and ate dinner at a Texas-styled steakhouse that was founded in Indiana. Talk about a rip-off on the story there! It was good but I was feeling kind of bad, so we came home after that. The night before, Hallowe’en, we spent in taking care of trick-or-treaters that braved the rain. Elaine’s mom also came down that day and brought us an awesome platter of deli meats, cheeses, olives, and bread like we’d had at our wedding. We pigged out on those while watching 28 Days Later which Elaine had never seen all the way through. We also had some of the best apple cider to wash it all down.
The night before that (I feel like I’m doing this backwards) we went to Chris and Jackie’s house for a Hallowe’en party. Mostly it was video games and candy, but that’s all you really need anyway. We got to meet two of their friends who were really nice, too, and a good evening was had by all.
Anyway, just a little “hey there” for you all to catch you up. Go read what I wrote of the novel, and let me know what you think of it!
addendum
Oh, and we voted today. The polls are closing as I type this, so if you didn’t, I guess you missed your chance. Bad voter! Bad! I don’t want to hear you complaining about the President for the next four years. You’ve waived your right to that.
Congratulations on the anniversary! I didn’t know it was yesterday or I would have contacted you earlier. Did you enjoy some wedding cake? We froze the top layer of our wedding cake to have on our one-year anniversary. I’ll read what you’ve written in the novel so far and leave another comment…

No, we ate a bit of the top of our cake on our three month…anniversary…what is the word for that? Our quarter-year anniversary? Anyway, whatever it was. Neither of us think it particularly appetizing to eat a year-old piece of cake. :) But, hey, to each his own.
And, yes, please, leave comments here on the novel. I’ll try to post here each day that I post a bit of the story, to explain any sticky bits or address anything that anyone brings up. Here’s hoping for 50,000!

I consumed our top layer of cake on our first year anniversary after my wife and I had a small piece. She thought it was a little too old. I took one for the team; it was delicious!
I love cake.
