EYEHEARTZOMBIES

Bypassed Like a Christmas Tree

October 4

Well, most of the site has the new stylesheets and layout applied to it. It’s a mess in the backend, but the output is clean enough for now. I’ll make it better before the end. I’m also considering removing the background on the right-hand side of the site, as it doesn’t always tile correctly and I think it messes up the readability, but we’ll see. I’ve done a few things I hadn’t planned on doing to make the site a bit more visually appealing and more usable, like the highlighted current section, and defaulting the cursor over the current sections link. You can still click it, but it doesn’t look clickable to the idle eye.

We haven’t been doing much this weekend, or lately. As you might have read, Thursday night was deadline, which makes for a very sleepy/tired weekend. On Friday, we went to our friends Chris and Jackie’s house for dinner and games. Jackie made a great pasta and chicken dish and we all played a few Xbox and Gamecube games. The Kirby Air Ride racing game was probably the most fun group game, but I think I liked the thumb-numbing Guilty Gear X2 the best of the evening. We took Dance Dance Revolution over, but no one wanted to play after eating dinner.

On Thursday night, we had watched _ Star Trek: The Motion Picture_ since Elaine hadn’t seen it (or, I believe, any of the Star Trek movies). They are so much better than the shows have ever been (don’t even both commenting on that; I think what I think). The first movie, with its omniscient V’ger is cheesy as hell, but makes for an enjoyable two hours. We watched Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn on Saturday night at Elaine’s mom’s house, which is where the title of this post comes from. Mr. Scott has some of the best quotes ever.

Last Saturday we went to a local Greek festival for some food, dancing, and coffee. We weren’t disappointed. After a wonderful meal of gyros, Greek salads, lamb kabobs, cheese wrapped in grape leaves, feta cheese, pirokopitas (I probably spelled that wrong), and many other dishes (not all for me. Spread between the three of us), we sat and watched the dances for a bit.

I have a confession to make. I’m an eavesdropper. I know, it’s terrible; I only do it in public places, though. I don’t sit and catalog other people’s telephone conversations or anything.

That admitted, I sat next to a local candidate for Congress and listened to what he and his aides said. I found out that one of his aides really likes the Wag the Dog movie, and drinks beer. Dodd didn’t, though, and he apparently likes the Greek coffee. He also planned to go and rent a movie after they left the festival. I know, I know. That is completely pointless information; it’s what I do, though.

Anyway, after the food and the dancing, we bought some pastries and coffee, had a bit of each, then left to go home. We also bought a package of Greek coffee before we left, to make at home. We made some this weekend, but we didn’t have any demitasse to drink them from, so we used some saki cups that Elaine’s mom bought me from San Fransisco. Those do not work well, as coffee is rather hot, and the cups are rather thin. Still, we perservered and found that Elaine makes a good cup of Greek coffee.

All of that was to bring up that we went an bought some demitasse on Saturday, before watching the movie at Elaine’s mom’s house. Wow, that was a long and pointless story. Sorry, everyone.

Sunday was nothing but Fable and a bit of work on this site. I meant to be a lot more productive, but that never happens.

As far as eavesdropping is concerned, I was thinking about it and it’s kind of like the habbit/hobby of mine: collecting other-peoples-lists. Only I keep what I find and what you find is caught on the air. We’re like the people who do Found Magazine or I Found Some of Your Life, which, sadly, seems to be missing in action. We just collect little bits of other people’s lives (as I like to say.)

I like people-watching myself, as far as hobbies are concerned. I do eavesdrop, also, but I forget almost as soon as I am done listening to the conversation.
